Numbers to 20

I am learning to recognise numbers to 20.  I can stand on the large number line when the number is called out.  I am also learning the before and after numbers.

"I can walk to 12 and I can walk to 15.  I need to learn my numbers." said Axton

Phonics

We are learning to listen and record the sounds we can hear.  We are able to blend the sounds altogether.  We can use our phonics at Story writing and Reading time to help us.

" I can write words by myself because we robot them at Story writing, Phonics and Reading" said Axton

Dinosaurs

We have been reading stories and talking about Dinosaurs. 

These photos show the writing process. We started with the 'draft stage', where students try to use the skills they have been taught. After 'conferencing' with the teacher and 'editing', students produce the 'published work' for their audience to enjoy.

"I can make capital letters and full stops in the right places." said Axton

Paper bear

We learnt how to draw a teddy bear looking at the different shapes that make up the head and arms. We wrote about our bear and published it onto a paper bag.

Cats

I have been learning how to draw a cat.  I can mix colours together and I can also use charcoal to show shading.

Deep in the compost bin!

As part of our inquiry we have been looking at creatures that dwell in the darkness of our compost bins.

After we observed and handled these creatures, watched video clips and read books about them; we wrote these fabulous stories.

Part of the writing process is presenting our finished work in a way the captures our readers attention. We hope you enjoy viewing our quality work!

Before and after

You are trying to recognise the number before a number in the range 10-20.  You have to put a peg on the correct number. The before numbers are a bit tricky.

"I was trying to figure out the numbers. I felt amazing." Axton

Beginning sounds

I am learning to make the beginning and end sounds to help me work out the words I don't know.

"Learning the words is a little bit hard." Axton

Student lead conferences

Here you are sharing your learning with your family at your Student Lead Conference. This was a great chance to celebrate the progress you have made so far this year.

Reading

I am learning to point to each word and use the pictures as a clue.

Axton says," I can read the words because I look at the pictures. The pictures help you get a clue. It helps you know about the story."

Maths

I am learning to write my numbers in the correct order.  I am also learning to count backward from 10.

Axton says," We have to count up to 10 on the rocket. We were trying to win the game. We have to put numbers in order. You need to count properly. We don't want to go back to kindy."

Scooter day

We are learning to keep ourselves safe when we are on a scooter.

Story writing

I am learning to write my story by myself.  I can use my word card and my sounds to help me write the words.

Self Portrait

I am learning to draw a self portrait.  I am able to put all the features in the correct place.

Swimming

I am learning to get in the pool safely.  I am gaining confidence to put my head under the water.
